Hu explains the numerous policy changes that transformed China during this period, as the nation evolved from an isolated and underdeveloped country into a global political and economic power.

Volume 3 looks at the beginning of the term of Xi Jinping and the enormous strides made by China in terms of global power and economic strength. With China’s role in the global economy the strongest it has ever been, the policies are examined and history surveyed.

Author

Hu Angang is the Professor of the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University, and the Dean of the Institute of Contemporary China Studies, Tsinghua University. Hu received his Ph.D (1988) at China Academy of Science and conducted Postdoctoral research (1991-1992) at Yale University. Professor Hu is one of the leading experts in China Studies. His research and teaching interest is China Study, macro-economics, economic and social development strategy, theory and practice of Chinese Development. He has published widely in these areas.

With his achievements in his research work, he was awarded the First Prize of Science and Technology Progress Awards of the China Academy of Science(twice), Sun Yefang Economic Papers Prize (2000) and Fudan Premium Fund of Management (2008). He is a member of the Advisory Committee for the Twelfth and Thirteenth Five Year Plans under NDRC, an Advisory member of the National Disaster Mitigation Committee and a member of the Advisory Committee under Ministry of Agriculture. He was elected as the representative of the 18th CCP National Congress in 2012.
