About the Author
Dai Yi graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University and went to study at the Department of History, Peking University. In 1961 he served as Deputy Director of the History Department of Renmin University of China, and also as Director of the Research Institute of Chinese History. In 2002, he served as Director of the National Editorial Board on Qing dynasty history. He has written or edited over 30 books, including the Draft of China’s Modern History, the Sino-RussianTreaty of Nerchinsk (1689), A Concise History of the Qing Dynasty, Emperor Qianlong and his Era, China and the World in the 18th Century, A Yearbook of the Qing Dynasty, the Anthology of Lu Shuang, the Anthology of Fan Lu, and the Anthology of Yu Bing.
